We are Building a Moat Around the Shop

The cement project is going a little slow with the weather. Hopefully things will get wrapped up before we have to move out 29 toolboxes and move in 32 new ones. Not to mention the tractors that have to be in the shop for the new class and the 9600 combine we are going to tear down this year.

John Deere Tech Scholarships

Every year the John Deere Foundation donates money for NICC to pass out for scholarships. A few members of the advisory committee graciously volunteer their time to decide who is deserving of the scholarships and this is who the committee decided for 2010.

Thanks and Congratulations

The Rewards of Teaching

When your in front of the class as an instructor you can always tell when the students are really digging in and working hard at the computers. You talk about things and their focus is at the computer. You think that things are going well and the students are focusing on their studies. Its great! Well then class is over and you go to shut down the computers and you devastatingly learn the rest of the story. At least they are drawing classic John Deere tractors and not SILVER combines. Here are a couple nice examples of the hard work on the computers.

Tractorcade Route??

Looks like we have finally settled on a route for the tractorcade.

We have a few obstacles to overcome this year. The driveway and parking lot behind the JD Tech building will be torn up this year and the loading dock will be unavailable. This also means that we will not be able to park in the shop or use the Ag Tech parking lot. We think we can use the lot behind the T&I building and part of the parking lot north of the T & I building. If you nead a dock we will try to find one for you to use.

SCV Boxes and Hydraulic Pumps

Well summer classes are well underway. We started summer semester classes with alot of reading the manual and slippery door knobs. Many can say they can set a Selective Control Valve and test it and I think most can test a hydraulic system. In a few days we will see how many can get certified with the John Deere Hydraulic Certification. Wish us luck its a new test again this year!
